Home Sweet Home

by David on Jul.16, 2010, under Uncategorized

So I have actually been home for two weeks…and i forgot to write on here and tell you all i am home.

So since i got back I:

Got a new phone

Got a job at Panera

Reconnected with old friends

and Annoyed my mom…but when doesn’t that happen.

Last night i cooked  for Jim and my mom. I made baked chicken with a tomato pesto and 7 grain rice pilaf. It was very good and it even suprised my mom. Currently i have not really felt like i have been doing anything of real importance…that could be because school will not start for another month and i don’t have a whole lot to do. What i do have is my new job and i have my second day of work tomorrow at 10 am. Because of that i should probably head off to bed soon, so like always leave any comments or concerns in the box below.

My Last Month in Denmark

by David on Jun.03, 2010, under Uncategorized

Hey party people,

In just a few short weeks i will be rejoining the American Populace. I will only probably write one more post before that time.  That is beside the point, you guys want to hear what has been happening to me recently.

For one thing, last weekend was my last YFU meeting and I had the best and worst weekend of my entire year.  For those who understand this reference, it was 50 to 100 times worse then the final day of SNC. It was very heart wrenching to see these people who were the first people i met here and who i have come to know over the last year,  give each other a hug and wish each other luck in thier lives. I am positive that i will return within 10 years (I actually have gotten most of the people to agree to all meet up in 10 years).

So for the next month i will be trying to wrap up all of my ties, and go to places that i have meant to go to during the year but have never gotten the chance to. Also please check the gallery because i will put up photos as often as i can (maybe once a week) and plus they are usually just fun to see what has been happening in my life.

This weekend i will go see Carl Brandt( the second family i stayed with), and we will just hang out and do watery things all weekend. My oldest host brother, Kristian, leaves a week from today, no worrie i will see him in november when i head down to Florida.

I have been reading the Lord of the rings and i am almost done with the first book. Tolkien is an amazing author and though he takes 3/4 of the book just to leave Rivendell(the elf city for those that dont know the series). I may even write my final highschool english paper over him and how his writing is compared to that of Norse Mythology.

It feels like so much is happening right now, but i can’t think of anything else for the time being. I have posted the link to my cookbook along with the username and password. if you want to add something there, please consult me first. Besides that, keep checking back and i look forward to seeing you all so soon. Vi Ses

2 Months Till Home

by David on May.03, 2010, under Uncategorized

Hey everyone,

Sorry i am being so slow to put up pics and posts, but for the most part i have to do all of the work on this site at school.  As you can see by the title only a few months left until i am home.

YFU(My Organization) has been sending me event notices for events just about every week, not to mention all of the things that i do during the week. Add it all together and by midweek i cant move, because my back hurts so much.

In school we are preparing for exams. the great thing about exams for me is that i really do not have to take them and my teachers have told me they really do not want me to take them. Of course, i will take the english one, just so that at least one is taken.

My family is good. :D The only sad part right now is that my oldest brother, Kristian, is leaving in a month to live in Orlando, Florida. Because of that i have been out helping him clean everything up and chop down trees. I also have been cleaning the house in the last few days because my friend Pernille is coming over today and i am cooking for her.

Speaking of cooking, I am creating an online cookbook with a few of my favorite recipies and as soon as i do a bit more work on it i will post a link and you all can check it out.

Well my time for today is running out(I have to go to class). Like always if you have any commennts, questions, or concerns; post them in the box below. :D

Spring Break

by David on Apr.06, 2010, under Uncategorized

Hey guys and gals,

Sorry it took me so long to update my blog but i have been on break and everything so i could not work here on my blog(my home computer is horrible).  So first things first, my Birthday, The party was really fun. It was just me and about 5 or 6 friends. We just ate pizza and watched Zombieland and Lesbian Vampire Killers. They gave me about 45 or more MTG cards, a large dark chocolate Easter egg, and the Sting Sword that Frodo uses in Lord of the Rings. Beyond that, My birthday diner was really tasty, and on my actual birthday i started to do Live Action Roll Playing in some woods near my house. I had such a great time.

So I recently got off of Spring Break (Easter Break), and over the break i really did not do anything. If you look in a few days i will have pictures from going and seeing the Jelling(pronounced Yelling) Stones, the birthstones of Denmark; Hanging With Lisa, and just a few other things that i took pictures of.

Speaking of pictures, i got a brand new digital camera and it takes far better photos then before. I love the camera so much, it is a lot better then my old one.

About two weeks ago, Lisa my girlfriend, broke up with me. She had a good reason, whenever i am around she tends to get hurt, so i guess in the sake of her own health we should not be together.

That is all for now if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, leave them in the box below. 3 more months and I am home. See you next time. :D

So Long, So Short

by David on Mar.08, 2010, under Uncategorized

Hey all of my loyal readers, how are you all?

As for me, I have been feeling really good. I got over a cold a few weeks ago, Lisa and I are going better then ever, I am beginning to do more things, but i guess the best things must come to an end. As the title of this post hints to, I have found my return date. July 1st is Doomsday I guess some could say. I love it here and it feels like i just got here, but i guess i have to return sometime. I have like three or four more months, so no need to get too emmotional yet :D

My birthday is only a week or so away. I am so excited, i am throwing a party the day after. It will be me and 9 or 10 friends, we are going to eat pizza, watch one or two movies, play pool…that sort of thing. That is not exactly how traditional danish Birthday parties are…I also am not really danish and i don’t drink so it is close enough.

Over the last few weeks I have returned to KPH with my host family, gone to a classic car show, got a REALLY short haircut, and talked with my YFU contacts. Also on saturday of this week I will go to Middelfart, where my YFU contact lives, and Signe(the contact) and I will go to see Alice in Wonderland(Finally). I seem to VERY busy, but we all know that is how i like it.

That is all for this post, be sure to check the gallery for new pictures, and leave a comment if the need strikes you. Have fun!!!!

More Photos

by David on Feb.10, 2010, under Uncategorized

It seems like a lot has happened recently. I have gone to see my YFU friends and meet the new exchange students, Yesterday we went to Svendborg and saw the Naturama Museum, and today i went to Vejle and spoke to a boarding school about America. The reason I named this post what i did was because of course i have new photos up in the Gallery. I have decided that at least i will try to put up new photos every time i post.

As for the things I have done, in Ju Jitsu I sprained my right elbow being kicked by one of my friends. Because of it i could not ride my bike fore about 2 or 3 days. In school, we have not been super busy, just the normal stuff. We also have a week long break next week.

With YFU, as i said i went to that meeting. I ended up not having any sleep and so i got a little upset. We saw four movies and just laid around all weekend…it was really fun. I was asked by a YFU contact to go as i said to Vejle today and speak about America. It was really good, mostly the kids and teachers asked me questions and so i got to be a teacher for like 2 or 3 hours. They were having an American society week, and afterwards we all had meatloaf and mashed potatoes.

My Birthday is only about a month away and I have already planned a party(More details later).

As for Lisa, my girlfriend, we are good…we almost broke up last week but we talked about it and we are all good. no harm done.

I cant think of anything else for now so until next time…READ, SUBSCRIBE, COMMENT, PICTURES :D

Return to the Norm

by David on Jan.18, 2010, under Uncategorized

School and Ju Jitsu are finally back in full swing. With the beginning of the New Year, I like a few of my peers, received a new class. They are really nice to me and i made friends in the first few days. I was even challenged to give my class a presentation over Kansas. And as i said Ju Jitsu has resumed. Now instead of going home then going to Ju Jitsu on Mondays and Wednesdays, I go over to Lisa’s House and we talk and play PS2. Saved me time and we just go from her house to Ju Jitsu. The training is still fun. I feel it is beginning to get easier so, I believe that is good.

I found out recently that the Nintendo DS and Sony PSP (I only have a DS) are region free on their games. This means that if i wanted to i can purchase games here and then still be able to play them when i return to the states, without any trouble. I thought about this because Lisa has been letting me play her DS games on her DS. I also seem to be on a reading kick and so i have acquired a few more books.

I have tried to cook in my house but besides two smoothies and some chicken soup it does not seem to be working out all to well. Both the smoothies and the soup were very good. I actually got their recipes from some cook books that i got her. More tasty food is on the way for sure.

I have to go shopping for clothes soon because i need some new shoes and some pants and the like. It wont be that bad because we have my favorite danish clothing store, Jack and Jones, right here in the city.

That is about all for this post, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns; feel free to leave them in the comment box below. Until next time; have fun, enjoy yourself, and if given lemons…throw them at old people…who needs lemonade. ;D

After Chistmas YAY!!!

by David on Dec.29, 2009, under Uncategorized

Since the last Post many things have happened. For one i had to cancel my Bake Sale. There was supposed to be a huge storm that weekend but it really did not happen until later on in the following week. I may reschedule but I don’t really know if i can. Besides that I went to a Jule-fest with my class, it was really boring as most parties are since i do not drink. My classmates just drank and listened to really loud music and eventually at midnight i left.

Danish traditions soon set in. In no time it seemed that school was drawing to a close and on the last day before break, we had a gift exchange in my class. i received chocolate. I also picked a wonderful year to come here. I had been told that it never snowed much and because of that school would never be cancelled. Both happen two weeks ago, the snow was up to my high shin if not my knee in places. I learned that you can not ride a bike through snow very well. I will put up photos of what i apparently did to my bike. The back tire of my bike is severely bent.

A few days after the beginning of break, Rasmus (Middle Host Brother) arrived, and shortly later it was Christmas. We had about 14 people here and i went to church. We had a snowball fight, danced around the tree, sang songs in danish, and most of that after we had eaten. The food was wonderful, we had chicken and potatoes and honey glazed potatoes and cabbage and things like that. After the main meal we had a dessert game. we had a sort of rice pudding that was white, my host mom put a peeled almond into the pudding. We each took a few scoops and whoever had the almond got an extra gift. I found it in my pudding and the i got a box of licorice fudge. I have not eaten it.

Now for the other gifts i got. from my bio family i received; box of bunny suicide postcards, remote controlled car, key-chain breathalyzer,  info on condoms, an MP3 player, and a Swiss military watch.

From my Host family i recieved; A book on Fredericia, an ipod shuffle, a grey house coat, that is all i believe.

Now i am just enjoying my last week before school resumes and I join a different class then i had been in before the break. I hope you all had good holidays. Happy New Years and I have a question for you guys. If you received gifts, what was your favorite gift? Have fun, don’t forget to subscribe and comment.

December is Finally Here

by David on Dec.04, 2009, under Uncategorized

Hej guys and gals,

How is everyone. Lets see in the last few weeks the biggest thing that has happened is that  I HAVE A GIRLFRIEND.  We are doing good. Her name is Lisa and she is a short danish girl with dyed red hair and she is a geek like me…o and we met at Jujitsu. Speaking of which, I have been working on technique, and i can feel an improvement so i think i will stick with that for now. Ialso have not done much Aikido in the last few weeks, i have been busy…and i forgot when it  is. Also I have a party for Jujitsu tomorrow at the local Sports Center where i do it.

Have been to three Julefests (Christmas Parties), and i have about one a week now. I am totally ready for christmas here, they have really cool traditions here that i will talk about in later posts when i really get to see them first hand. The Julefest i went to for YFU we did a really cool gift exchange game where everyone brings and gift and then you roll a die, if oyu get a six you can take a gift, if not you pass the dice to the next person. In the next round when you get a six you can steal a gift from someone else. It was a really good time and i was really happy that i got to see Carl Brandt.

After Christmas i have to do my best to speak in only Danish. That should not be a problem on here but it means that i most certainly will not be writing on here once a week, i like the every other week thing that i seem to be doing here. I got a package from America today, suprisingly enough i am not home sick at all. It seemed like in the last few days I have had a lot on my mind and when i opened the box and saw all of the things in there from home it put me in a really happy mood.

As always feel free to leave your comments in the space provided below, and if you are not subscribed then please do that. Tell your friends about this Blog and I guess until next time, happy Advent Days and I wish you all good luck in the many trials that you may face in the future. :)

Almost Four Months Already

by David on Nov.22, 2009, under Uncategorized

Hey can you guys believe I have been in Denmark for about four months? In the last few weeks i continued to do Jujitsu and Aikido. I think tat because of all of the exercise i have been doing that i am in one of the best shapes i have every been in, not to mention I have lost 17 kg. One of the last Jujitsu practices i went to all i did the entire time was get hit, i could not fight back against all of the guys that were against me.

My community service, bake sale thing, has started to get going. I already have six people signed up and more will join after it is presented to the school on Tuesday. I am posting pictures as quickly as i can because i have not put any up recently, so check out thew gallery and there will be more up, if not today then as soon as I can get my comp to let me do it.

This weekend i went back to Tommerup for a YFU Mid-Year Event. It was a blast, i am so happy to see my old friends and even though it ended on a sad note (One Exchange student went back to their original country and Josh is going back to Australia in the end of December) I know that everyone had a blast. We ate a lot of cake and just sat around and talked. They also assigned us a project that i will work with Jan(guy from Moldova…yea i know people) on. The project is basically about what we would tell a new exchange student who would be coming, what it is like here.

Still no girls are into me. As you will see though i will have some photos from the Skool Ball that I attended last week. I did have a date but… now she is mad at me and she left the ball early(no correlation). Beyond all of that i have just been super busy, super tired, and apparently cooking a lot. I wish you all a happy time right now and even though they do not celebrate the holiday here, to all of the Americans that read this blog, HAPPY THANKSGIVING. Eat some turkey and pie for me. Dont forget to Subscribe and leave your comments in the space below. Besides that, Enjoy yourselves…I certainly am enjoying myself.
